Yell not only lock their customers into twelve month contracts, they make it even harder to get away from them by claiming copyright on their rather mediocre web designs (they are templates), which the client has already paid for.

Apparently they even claim copyright on any images and graphics sent to them.

To get out, we need to build you another website, based on your current design, or indeed any other design you may come up with. We will also need replacement images and graphics, as long as you feel they are your property. (And they will stay that way!)

We will initially host this site on a derivative domain name you register, so you can check everything is running as it should. This includes embedding analytics, search console and bing webmaster on your new site and ensuring this new site will meet our high standards for mobile friendly and pagespeed (That's why we load search console).

When your contract with Yell ends, as soon as your old domain can be transferred over, this new website will be run on it. In the event of any delay, you will have a fully functioning site. Your derivative domain name can be retained to redirect any traffic that may still come in to your now hosted old domain name.

We will do this for up to 5 pages for £400, plus a Google Review page, which is a great way to connect your website to your Google My Business listing and encourage more reviews. Additional pages at £80 each.

All of this is payable over a year, in other words you pay just £33.33 per month. This is the only "lock in" we impose and only until the new site has been paid for.

Hosting is £19.95 per month, no lock in and includes any reasonable amount of work to edit your control panel, editing Google Tag Manager and repairing any issues that may crop up with Search Console. (Google monitor sites and flag up any issues they may have with mobile devices or code.)

So for £53.28 per month you will have a faster competitive site, that after one year is all yours, and only yours.

Even if that is not less than you are paying Yell now, it will be next year.
